Volunteers of Youth Power and members of Budi Muško Club Mostar have implemented a series of activities in the past month to point to the problem of online violence in our society. After they went through educational workshops, these young people organized gathering signatures in their schools and local communities to support the Initiative for incorporating online violence into the legal frameworks.

The activities of young people from Mostar are part of the campaign conducted by the Center for women’s rights from Zenica (earlier Women’s legal aid Center) with the support of non-governmental organizations and individuals in 13 cities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Bihać, Bugojno, Goražde, Gornji Vakuf / Uskoplje, Konjic, Maglaj, Mostar, Sarajevo, Travnik, Tuzla, Visoko, Žepče and Zenica.

The campaign aims to draw the attention of the public to the problem and severity of the consequences of violence against women and children whose use is being made of modern technology and mobile telephony, and the impossibility of sanctioning perpetrators due to the lack of legal framework.

That is why the Women’s Rights Center 15.11.2017. submitted an Initiative with a proposal for a text of the Draft Amendments to the Criminal Code of FBiH, which was the result of a three-year research and consultative work, of which experts from the field of justice, prosecution, security and protection, education were involved.

Youth Power members say: “If it’s not visible does not mean it’s not real, so I’m looking for protection against violence via the Internet and mobile telephony!”
