From January 16 to 24, 2018, a project entitled “Human Rights Education for European Values” was held in Đakovo. The project was organized by the CET Platform Croatian organization, approved by the National agency for mobility and the European union program and funded by the European union under the Erasmus + program.

There were 32 participants from Croatia, Ukraine, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Montenegro. The project was run by Tomislav Bogdan, president of CET platform Croatia and Vojislav Vujić, executive director of CET platform Serbia. The training was opened by deputy mayor of the city of Đakovo, Robert Francem, who initially welcomed young people from 10 countries and a successful and productive 9 days in Đakovo. He also expressed the desire to have more such activities in the future in Đakovo.

They did various activities such as team building, discussion on various topics, presentations of partner organizations and arrangements for a future project, presentations of human rights situations in the countries participating in this project, simulation of workshops of participants who used their knowledge and the skills that have been gained on this course and the creation of new methods and tools to be used in informal education in the field of human rights and migration by partner organizations involved in this project, as well as from all other interested organizations and individuals who are active in working with youth.

The training was attended by Biljana Gaće, human rights and minority activist, who introduced the participants with the human rights situation in Vukovar and the ways in which non-governmental organizations and citizens participate in the promotion of multiculturalism in Vukovar. Their second guest was Iva Zanzerović from the Center of Peace Studies who introduced them to the activities organized by the Center of Peace Studies and the ways in which they have been active in youth work in the field of human rights and migration over the last twenty years.

During the intercultural evening, participants had the opportunity to present their country, tradition, culture and products characteristic of their country, and they had the opportunity to explore Đakovo and visit the heritage of Đakovo.

On the last day, participants have created ideas for new projects and responsibility will be taken over by partner organizations and participants interested in writing projects.

After the training, activities will be organized as part of the project. Participants in co-operation with partner organizations will organize local activities based on the knowledge and skills acquired during the course and will work on sharing results with other non-governmental organizations and interested workers to expand the word on the project, to provide the ones working with young people new methods and the tools they can use in their work and future activities.

As part of the project, there is also the website of the www.hreforeve.eu project where everyone interested can find informations about the project, about partner organizations, about the site of maintenance. It will also publish daily activity reports as a result of this training.
