Youth Power, together with members of the Be Man Club Mostar celebrated World Peace Day on September 21, 2019 with the action “Peace of Cake” at the “Lenjinovo šetalište” in Mostar. The goal of the youth was to remind the citizens of Mostar of the need to strengthen peace messages and ideas among all people.

The action took place on Lenjinovo šetalište, where street stand was set up with cookies and t-shirt that had positive messages, messages who were promoting peace. Youth Power volunteers and Be Male Club Members shared 200 cookies and over 100 T-shirts to citizens who were passing by. Citizens were approaching to the stand, where they were writing peace messages on the papers and later, at the very end of the action, lanterns were released into the sky on which were the messages of citizens.

Project Coordinator Ružica Boras said that the action was successful and they received many praises from citizens.

“Our volunteers have put together a clever campaign that has involved a large number of fellow citizens. With their positive attitude they brought a smile to the faces of many, and cookies that were shared were big plus. They spoke with many and received many praise for their hard work, contribution and desire to achieve peace. Youth Power is proud of the work of volunteers, especially their message of spreading peace through small acts of attention” said Ruzica Boras.

International Peace Day was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in 1981 to commemorate and promote the ideals of peace among all nations and states. After discussions on the introduction of the “Peace Day” and what it should represent, it was concluded that it would exist in order to continuously remind people of the need to strengthen peace messages and ideas among all people and peoples.
