Youth Power organized the fourth training for peer educators for eight high schools in our county in period from 30 and 31 January 2020. in Mostar. This two-day training presented the opportunity for young people to gain additional knowledge and to refine their skills in order to continue working to educate their peers on the topics such as of prevention of gender-based violence and the promotion of healthier lifestyles among peers.

In this training we had the opportunity to meet a new group of peer educators who have joined with more experienced colleagues. During this training, peer educators had the opportunity to go through three educational workshops that they will implement in their schools this year.

The youngsters talked about what peer education means to them, what have they done over the past three years and what are their plans for the current school year. During the training, they prepared workshops that are related about how to protect themselves from all the risks  that adolescents are facing, and then discussed how men and women should actually be involved as the caregivers of their children.

Educators who have finished the first round of peer education training are now ready to conduct new workshops with their peers in schools.

Besides this, we held a one day storytelling workshop within the project ACT – Artists Create Together. Participants of the workshop had an opportunity to find out more about the project ACT, our activities and results achieved in the previous year as well as about the future activities planned. Participants now have additional tools they can use regardless of the theme. For example, in ACT storytelling we use a set of 10 question-cards focused on a more personal basis. But the method itself can be even combined with the YMI activities and questions can be formed to serve a certain purpose and support the activities of any project

The activity was implemented as part of the YMI – Young Men Initiative project: “Promoting Healthier Lifestyle among Young People in Bosnia and Herzegovina by Challenging Gender Stereotypes II”, supported by the Governments of Switzerland, OAK Foundation, Austrian Development Agency and CARE International Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Storytelling activity was implemented within the project  ACT – Artists Create Together which is supported by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
