In the past month we have implemented, together with our partners, four training sessions for peer educators from eight high schools in our canton. Young men and girls, high school students, from eight high schools gained knowledge and skills during three-day training how to educate their peers on issues of violence and violence prevention.

Over the past month we have been intensively working on educating future peer educators from eight high schools with whom we will work over the next three years on topic of violence prevention and promote healthier lifestyles. The young men and women who participated in the training sessions were selected by the pedagogue and will play an important role in educating their peers for the next three years.

During the first days of the trainings, young men and girls learned what peer education was, positive and negative aspects of peer education, gained knowledge of what the Youth Program is (a model for peer-based workshops) and learned about skills public performance, speaking skills, and all the skills needed to successfully complete educational workshops in their schools.

On the second and third day of training, peer educators had the opportunity, with the help of trainers, to try to make a workshop to see how it looked. At the end, educators received additional advice on how to conduct workshops in their classrooms and how they will continue to carry out other activities for the next two years.

A total of 36 young people from eight high schools went through three-day training and gained the knowledge required for the implementation of educational workshops. This activity has been implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of education, science, culture and sports, the HNC education Institute and the Pedagogical institute of the HNC. Peer education activities and campaigns aimed at preventing violence and promoting healthier lifestyles are being implemented in cooperation with eight secondary schools: Jablanica high school, Stolac high school, Mostar traffic engineering School, Mostar School of electrical engineering, economic School and Hospitality- Tourism School Mostar, construction School Mostar, economic School Jozo Martinović Mostar and Gymnasium Mostar.
