“Chew instead of smoking” , “Cigars can ruin you”, “Turn off the cigar before she turns off you”, “Choose friends, don’t choose cigars” are just some of the messages sent by youth of Mostar today.

Volunteers and members of Youth Power with their creative efforts organized campaign to mark the World No Smoking Day in Mostar. Young people went to the streets to raise the awareness to citizens about the dangers of smoking and to encourage people through action to reduce smoking and to point out the possible consequences. With their creative effort, they decided to make boxes of sweet treats instead of cigar boxes. There were anti-smoking messages on the boxes and their motto was to replace the cigars with chewing gum.

Also, in seven HNC high schools, Youth Power held educational campaigns. The aim of the campaigns they have been preparing for the past month has been to draw attention to the problem of an increasing number of young people who are starting to consume cigarettes but they are not aware of the consequences.

Youth Power organized training for planning campaigns for partner schools last month where they want to encourage students to organize campaigns in their schools on World No Tobacco Day.

The activities are part of the project “Promoting Healthier Lifestyles” among BiH Youth battling Gender Stereotypes “. This project is supported by the Swiss Government and the OAK Foundation and is implemented with the support of CARE International Balkans
