In a series of successful well organized training courses in the last couple of weeks, Youth Power has finished implementation with the “Stay active – Be healthy!” traning course that happened in Zadar in period between 6-14 September. Training course gathered more than 30 participants from several Europe countries. “Stay Active – Be Healthy!” is an international project that aims to promote sport as a useful non-formal education tool for working with young people on the topic of promotion of healthy lifestyles, but also many other social problems present in local communities of partner organisations.
About training course activities:
This training course started with team-building day. They were dedicated to getting to know each other, learning about other cultures and building the connections between everyone in order to have successful and fruitful upcoming work days. Next day was introduction to the topic of the training course – they did overview of countries realities in regards to the healthy lifestyles programs for youth and statistics concerning the healthy lifestyles of young people in participating countries. It was defined what is youth work and what is sport work, and how these two can be combined with aim of promoting healthy lifestyles among young people in participating partner countries. One whole day was dedicated to creative thinking about how can sport activities be part of our youth work activities in local communities, and what are the benefits of using sport activities and physical activities as a tool in non-formal education. Friday was a bit more casual for our group. Later they talked about challenges and obstacles in implementing youth work activities combined with sport activities and methods First day of weekend on training course “Be active – stay healthy” was focused on sharing games from childhood, and adapting them to become learning experience in adult and youth age. We concluded Saturday with developing ideas for youth sport work events in our local communities. Participants had opportunity to work together on developing workshops for promotion of healthy lifestyles through youth sport work. Last working day of the training course provided an opportunity for participants to share educational activities they developed during the weekend, simulate them and collect feedback for implementation of follow-up workshops in their local communities. We concluded the day, and the whole training course, with final evaluation and Youthpass ceremony.
The whole program is based on non-formal and learning-by-doing educational methods.
Objectives of the training course:
- Fostering and empowering future cooperation between individuals and organisations involved in the project.
- Improving skills and competencies of youth workers to use innovative non-formal learning methods in their daily work.
- Building capacities of youth organisations to actively work with young people on the topic of promotion of healthy lifestyles.
- Enabling youth workers to extend the learning of young people in their local communities by using Youthpass and its 8 key competencies.
- Creation and implementation of multiplication workshops in local communities as part of follow up activities.
- Sharing of positive practices and working tools between youth organisations.Promotion of Erasmus+ programme and its general concept and ideas.
