Youth Power was part of training course ‘Reconciliation youth work in post-conflict areas’ that took place from 27th September till 06th October 2021 in Medellin, Colombia. Training course was organized by “La Peace Hub” organization and the main goal was targeted youth workers already experienced and educated in general non-formal education principles and methodology implementing work on reconciliation and peace building with young people in their local communities.
Training course started with sessions related to talking about identities and things that we find as common among us. During this training course participants had opportunity to visit some different and rural parts of Medellin and to meet local community. During these visits, participants were learning about rebuilding peace, constructive understanding of conflict and conflict transformation. They had a chance to visit Casa Loma in Medellin and to learn directly from peace makers from this neighbourhood about dealing with past within post-conflict areas. Later they had a workshop about capoeira and use of this dance in the process of peace building in local community of Moravia in Medellin. On the last day of training course they made conclusions of the training course and make plan for new activities in all of our local communities.
Youth Power has always been part of training courses and activities that are related to building peace among people. It has been their main goal since the beginning. With various workshops and online campaigns that they did, they became one of the leading organizations for promotion of peace. With the knowledge that they learned during this training course and also the knowledge they shared with others participants, they will continue to work on building peace in local communities and in the world.
