The end of the World War II in 1945 set the foundations for European co-operation and peace. The 75thanniversary of war offers a moment to mark, as well as to think about how preserve a free, democratic Europe over the next 75 years. Liberty Talks has goal to encourage civic participation of young people across Europe, which promotes European awareness and citizenship.

LibTalks understands that by inviting young people to discuss the challenges of Europe’s freedom at its Liberty Talk events, using a creative and interactive format that encourages young people to formulate their solutions to these threats. Examples of major threats are anti-democratic tendencies, Euroscepticism, limited freedom pf speech and disinformation.

LibTalks will organize 4 National speeches about freedom in the Netherlands, Germany, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina with 200 participants, the transnational European Freedom of Speech event where 250 participants will open a manifest for European decisions on preservation and freedom. LibTalks will also make a 5-language manual about freedom for debate that will conduct further talks about freedom in school and youth centers, including information on EU and European challenges, with facilitation methods and volunteering tips.

Events are accompanied by online interaction with European youth through direct contact with event participants. Dissemination takes place on strategic events that provide wide and diverse audience. The manifesto is shared with national and EU politicians, and learned lessons are shared at the end of the project through the supplement to the manual.

Expected results are tools for future use, including learned lessons; awareness of the EU’s achievements, challenges and the sense of European citizenship among 1050+ participants; civic participation of young people after the project; and a manifest for EU leaders with creative solutions  to freedom.
