Summary:

My Future in NOW aims to encourage democratic and civic participation of 55 aged 30-65 and 915 direct and 600 indirectly involved youngsters in 6 countries (Netherlands, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Romania and Estonia) with lower education, who till now did not join any voting and community work and could be regarded as ‘eurosceptics’. Our theory of change is based on three steps in line with the EU Youth Strategy; “Engage, Connect and Empower”, as a bottom up approach which we prefer above the top down “tell- sell”.

Jobs and livelihood, Migration & integration and Democratic processes will be the common thread to help them open up, understand the opportunities for societal and community work and meet their peers in other EU countries.

The 18-month journey comprises 3 streams: 

The 1st stream aims to engage and encourage eurosceptics to be involved in democratic and community building activities. They will actively participate in games, visualise their dreams and give feedback via polls. We will facilitate them on an online platform and create a toolkit to share in our bigger EU network.

The 2nd stream connects and brings in a variety of perceptions that we will create a broader and better understanding of their opportunities via interactive relays and Great Minds multi stakeholder events in each country.

The 3rd stream aims to empower them via knowledge on processes and EU achievements and opening new networks and platforms to start projects and activities.

As a common thread in the 3 streams to encourage euroseptics to engage, connect and empower we chose 3 thematic dimensions

 – Jobs and livelihood: what’s in it for me, brain drain or stay and build a future, digital transition

– Migration and integration: mobility, respect, inclusivity and human rights

– Democracy: voting as right, freedom of speech, digitalisation, fake news, social media, privacy
